New DNA system more efficient for Hamilton
A DNA and fingerprinting system in Hamilton is saving time and money.
In the first 90 days of the new system, the Police Court Security Unit has taken hundreds of DNA samples and fingerprints of people awaiting trial. The old process was to take DNA samples of people found guilty after they’d been transferred to the Central Hamilton Police Station. Hamilton Police say the new way of doing things will save at least $65,000 a year.
