There’s been a big welcoming ceremony at Brock University for the homecoming of its namesake, Sir Isaac Brock.
A one and a half tonne bronze statue of the general will sit on the plaza in front of university’s Schmon tower. The statue travelled more than 4,000 kilometres from Oregon to get to St Catharines.
A more formal ceremony is set to take place in May.
In other Brock news, the university has reached a tentative deal with union members representing the school’s ESL instructors.
The union was aiming for increased job security, wages and higher program standards. The tentative agreement will succeed the agreement that expired this past July.
Brock’s ESL program attracts international students from all over the world, who pay high tuition fees.
