Brock University has been surrounded by controversy this year. From covering up a sexual harassment claim, to the poor handling of that scandal and then just last week the announcement that the first female president to take over at Brock would not be getting the top job after all.
Wendy Cukier was slated to become the first female president of Brock University. The Ryerson University faculty member was to start September 1st but then out of no where an announcement that her appointment was cancelled, being called a mutual decision between Cukier and the schools board. The university offered no further explanation.
Last year she was under investigation by an external investigator hired by Ryerson to look into the workplace environment of which she was vice president. The reports finding came out last January after Cukier had already been announced the next president of Brock university. The investigation uncovered problems with office communication.
Cukier was originally going to replace Jack Lightstone the outgoing president, he finished his term on a low note after news came out that Brock University told a student to keep quiet about a sexual harassment claim. Again the university stayed quiet until students and faculty started protesting .
Today for the first time the interim president of Brock University agreed to an interview with our Kate Carneige.
