Netflix price hike

Netflix is raising the price of its internet video service by one dollar for new customers.

The popular streaming service is raising the price of one of its main pricing packages for new customers in Canada and the U.S.

Canadians looking to sign up for the standard plan will now pay $9.99 a month.

Standard plan customers not already grand-fathered into a lower price will continue to pay $8.99 until next October.

The basic plan, which does not offer high definition video quality and only permits one stream at a time, remains at $7.99 a month.
