Hydro One says more than 450,000 of their customers have experienced power outages caused by “the worst wind storm in recent years.”

Late Saturday Dec. 12, high winds of more than 100 km/h swept across the province causing significant damage and delaying power restoration efforts.

Hydro One says crews have restored power to more than 335,000 customers.

In the latest update on Hydro One’s website, the utility reports logging 250 broken poles and nearly 60 damaged transformers, as well as down power lines and fallen trees.

The company says around 3,500 outages were in hard-to-reach areas, which is why they are taking longer to resolve.
