Halton police say they are investigating after dozens of people were scammed out of more than $70,000 on fake Taylor Swift tickets.

Officers say nearly 40 people reported fraudulent or non-existent tickets involving the same vendor.

Investigators say no arrests have been made at this time.

CHCH News has learned the accused scammer is a woman from Burlington. She allegedly sold the tickets through text or social media, requesting e-transfers but never delivering the tickets.

The woman claims to be a victim herself and filed a police report.

When CHCH News contacted her again for an interview Sunday, she hung up.

The Canadian Anti-fraud Centre says as of Friday, 190 people have fallen prey to ticket scams in their efforts to see Taylor Swift. Police in Niagara and Toronto say they’re also receiving complaints and investigating fraudulent tickets.

In Burlington there are hundreds of accounts reporting fake tickets were sold, resulting to nearly $300,000 lost.

The long-awaited tour kicked off in Canada last Thursday, with the first of six Toronto shows planned over two weeks.
