NDP makes new demands for budget support

Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath has announced her latest demand in exchange for her party’s support of the Wynne government’s budget.

Horwath she wants the Liberals to create a financial accountability office to be a spending and revenue watchdog.

“We need to ensure that there are no more Ornge, eHealth or gas plant scandals in this province. Something has to bring an end to the Liberals’ free ride. This office will provide analysis on the government’s estimates, and provide independent cost estimates on on budgetary proposals, legislation, and on the spending proposals of government agencies.”

Horwath says there is a lack in trust in the governing Liberals, and she wants more accountability to ensure promises to taxpayers are being kept.
