NATO condemns Russian aggression

NATO held an emergency meeting this morning in Brussels after releasing satellite images that it says show Russian troops operating inside Ukraine.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen spoke to the press afterwards. He condemned what he called “a serious escalation of Russian aggression.”

He also accused Russia of carrying out direct military operations inside Ukraine, calling it a “blatant violation” of Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty.

“We condemn in the strongest terms Russia’s continued disregard of it’s international obligations. We urge Russia to seize it’s illegal military actions, stop it’s support to armed separatists, and take immediate, verifiable steps towards de-escalation of this grave crisis.”

Russia continues to deny that it is either supporting the rebel forces or has sent its own forces over the border.
