Music star Prince dead at 57

Law-enforcement official tells The Associated Press that tests show that Prince died of an opioid overdose.

His publicist confirms that Prince was found dead at his Minneapolis home.

Sheriff’s responded to a medical call and when they arrived they found an unresponsive adult male in the elevator. Responders attempted to provide CPR but were unable and was pronounced deceased at 10:07 am.

While the cause is unknown, the entertainer was taken to hospital last Friday with what was described as a bad bout of the flu.

Prince had been performing recently bringing his acoustic tour to Toronto just last month, a city in which he once had a home.

In 2004, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame which hailed him as a musical and social trailblazer.  His hits include Let’s Go Crazy and Purple Rain.
