Who murdered their little pony?

The owners of a pony are devastated after someone shot and killed the rescued animal Sunday night.
“He was such a good pony. He loved everybody. I don’t know who could do something like that.”
Sam and Cheryl Stoltzfus rescued 4 year old Moon Pie back in July.
“When I went to see him I thought he was too small and I wasn’t interested in getting him. But when I heard the story because he was abused, I took him anyway and I thought, ‘well, he likes the kids, I will do pony rides with him’.”
Moon Pie lived at a farm with 9 other horses. On Sunday night Moon Pie and the horses somehow got loose and he was shot.
“Under the armpit, under the front shoulder and then after the arrow was in, to remove the evidence there was a slice where they cut to take the arrow out.”
Moon Pie was always in a fenced-in area with other horses. It was very unusual for them to be outside of it because the fence gives them a little bit of a shock if they go near it.
Police say that fence may have been cut.
People sometimes hunt in the area.
“There’s no way in your right mind that you can say that was a deer, especially when there is a herd of horses running and you see a pony.”
They’re not sure this was an accident, and they want some answers.
“I don’t know who would ever want to hurt Moon Pie, and he’s dead now.”
Police say they are investigating along with the humane society. But they add, unless someone comes forward to say they were hunting in the area last night, there’s not much they can do.
