Multiple water main breaks on Hamilton mountain prompt road closures, restrictions

Water main breaks have prompted road closures on the Hamilton mountain Wednesday.

City crews are working on repairing multiple water main breaks that caused traffic issues and low to no water pressure for area residents.

Multiple watermain breaks causing some traffic restrictions this morning, repairs are expected to be completed and lanes reopened by 3pm:

*West 5th (Rymal-Stone Church) – completely closed to traffic.
*Jameston Ave (West 5th-Upper James)

West 5th Rd. between Rymal Rd. W and Stone Church Rd. W is closed to traffic.

Traffic restrictions are in place on Jameston Ave. between West 5th Rd. and Upper James St. as well as Limeridge Rd. W between Garth St. and Bonaventure Dr.

The cause of the breaks is not known.

The city says roads are expected to be open by 3 p.m.
