Multiple sources say Ford government is considering a new stay-at-home order
The Ontario government is considering a stay-at-home order, multiple sources say.
Sources tell CHCH News this new stay-at-home order will come into effect at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
Retail will be limited to curbside pickup only, except for garden centres with green houses, pharmacies and groceries stores.
Big-box stores will be limited to grocery and pharmacy sales and malls will be closed except for curbside pickup.
There will be increased vaccination for at risk essential industries and increased enforcement by police.
This comes just days after Premier Doug Ford announced the “emergency brake” shutdown, which went into effect on Saturday.
At a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, Ford admitted the order was not totally effective over Easter weekend.
“You go by Yorkdale you couldn’t get a parking space it was absolutely jam-packed,” he said.
“I truly was hoping that people wouldn’t be going in there to the volume that we saw.”

Details of the increased restrictions are expected to be revealed Wednesday.
Ford will be making an announcement at 2 p.m. alongside Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams.
