Multiple impaired driving arrests after cars drive into poles

Police in both Hamilton and Halton responded to crashes involving impaired drivers last night.

The first in Milton around 10:45 at Derry Road east of Appleby Line.

Police say a minivan lost control crashing into a hydro pole taking down power lines. The man who was driving was not hurt in the crash but the road was closed for several hours.

Police say the man was arrested for impaired driving.

A similar scene in Hamilton, this time just before 1:30 this morning along Upper Sherman avenue near Fennell.

Police say an SUV driven by a local man slammed into a hydro pole taking down the wires. Alectra Utilities along with the fire department were called to the scene.

The man was arrested for impaired driving and later released.
