Mulroney says Harper still has a role to play; praises Trudeau

Former prime minister Brian Mulroney says Stephen Harper has a role to play in helping renew a damaged Conservative party so it can eventually return to power.

In a speech to the upscale Albany Club in Toronto last night, Mulroney credited Harper for playing a key role in rebuilding the Conservative party from the near-decimation in 1993 after his own two terms.

As for Canada’s new Liberal prime minister, Mulroney says the country has seen a “generational change,” and he described Justin Trudeau as “sparkling with promise and passion.”
