MPP Sarah Jama kicked out of NDP caucus and censured in legislature

The member has been at the centre of a political controversy over her comments about the Israel-Hamas war.

Leader Marit Stiles’ decision comes after Jama spoke in the legislature against a motion to censure her, saying Canadian governments and institutions are trying to use their voice and weight to silence people who support Palestinians.

Some analysts say the NDP had no other choice but to kick Jama out of the caucus, but to censure her is going too far – especially after she apologized.
