Motorcyclist killed, 2 in hospital following collision near Port Dover

One person is dead and two others are in hospital following a crash between an SUV and a motorcycle.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said the two vehicles collided around 7 p.m. Tuesday on Cockshutt Rd. and St John’s Rd. East near Port Dover.

The motorcyclist was travelling westbound on St. John’s Rd. East when the driver collided with the SUV that was travelling southbound on Cockshutt Rd.

Officers said the operator of the motorcyclist died at the scene, while the passenger was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Cockshutt Rd. was closed between Lynn Valley Rd. and Concession 2, and St. John’s Rd. East was closed between Tisdale Rd. and Marburg Rd. while investigators were at the scene.

OPP said all roads reopened around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday.
