Motorcyclist has neck sliced by kite string

A motorcyclist had his throat cut Sunday after becoming entangled in kite string while riding on Warden Ave. near St. Clair.

It happened at around 4:40 p.m.

Police say the man felt something tightening up around his neck and slammed on the brakes.
When he reached up, he felt his neck bleeding.
The man was taken to hospital in serious condition, but police say his injuries are not life threatening.
The incident is being treated as accidental, but a criminal investigation is underway.

Police say they have located a bunch of kite wire and that there was a long piece hanging off one of the trees that was strung right across the intersection.

Authorities are treating it as accidental, but want people to be aware of the dangers.
Kite flying/fighting is popular in the area, but the activity is illegal in most parts of the city.
