Mother charged with first-degree murder in death of baby girl

A 25-year-old mother has been arrested and charged after a baby girl was found without vital signs in Niagara Falls.
Georgina Anne Lowe, of Niagara Falls, is facing one count of first-degree murder in the death of her six-month-old daughter.
Around 1 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called to a home in the area of Barker St. and Dorchester Rd. in Niagara Falls for reports of a sudden death.
Emergency crews discovered a baby girl without vital signs. The infant was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police initially did not name the accused but after consultation with the next of kin, they released her identity.
Lowe is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at a St. Catharines court on Thursday.
