Morley Safer iconic 60 Minutes host dies at 84

Morley Safer, “60 Minutes” correspondent has passed away at the age of 84.

The news of his death comes one week after Safer announced he was retiring after 46 seasons on the program.

Safer joined 60 Minutes since 1970. Since then he filed 919 stories in his 46 years there.

Executive Director of 60 Minutes, Jeff Fager released this statement. ” “This is a very sad day for all of us at 60 Minutes and CBS News. Morley was a fixture, one of our pillars, and an inspiration
in many ways. He was a master storyteller, a gentleman and a wonderful friend. We will miss him very much,”
