More layoffs for HECFI

More layoffs have been announced at Hamilton’s Entertainment and Convention Facilities (HECFI).

Twelve employees have lost their jobs, in addition to sixteen others who were told in December that their positions would be eliminated. They’ll be leaving over the next few weeks. Global Spectrum, which is taking over operation of Hamilton Place and Copps Coliseum, says the moves will save the city $1 million a year. Existing collective agreements will be honoured, meaning any unionized HECFI employees will keep their jobs.
