There are more recalls of the contraceptive Alysena-28.

Health Canada and manfacturer, Apotex Inc. are recalling additional lot numbers of the pill as the investigation continues into why one lot of the product may have been incorrectly packaged.

Packages of Alysena-28 should have three weeks of active, drug-containing pills and one week of placebo pills. Apotex posted a recall over a week ago saying that one lot of the contraceptive may have been packaged with only two weeks of active tablets instead of three.

Health Canada warns that women taking the incorrectly packaged pills would not receive the proper amount of contraceptive, and have an increased chance of an unplanned pregnancy. It is telling women who are taking the pill to check the lot numbers on the package.

The numbers being recalled are LF01901A, LF01980A, LF02037A, LF01900A, LF01982A, LF02036A, LF01898A, LF01981A, LF02026A, LF01894B, LF01979A.

Alysena-28 is sold in Ontario, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, PEI and Quebec.
