A rash of suspicious fires overnight has residents in rural West Niagara and Hamilton on edge. 3 barns from West Lincoln to Glanbrook were torched within an hour of each other, no-one was hurt but residents are wondering whether next time they’ll be as lucky.

West Lincoln fire-fighters were already racing to a shed fire call on South Chippawa road last night when they noticed another barn fully ablaze. The barn was destroyed, the 2 farm buildings were torched within minutes of each other. And then just after midnight another abandoned barn was set ablaze on Trimble road in Glanbrook, hours before that, an abandoned house was gutted by fire on Tapleytown road in Stoney Creek.

Just a couple of weeks ago volunteer fire-fighters were out in West Lincoln and rural Hamilton scrambling when 4 abandoned buildings were torched within 24 hours of each other. One of those barns was on south Chippawa just kilometres away from the most recent blaze. The fire marshal has been out to one scene, police are still holding the other.
