A number of people have been arrested for trafficking cocaine or heroin in yesterdays raids. 3 people in Hamilton, 2 in Burlington and three more in the Niagara Region. Not all homes that were raided resulted in charges.

Sarah McColl’s son rents a house with friends on Moorland Crescent in Ancaster’s Meadowlands. She was staying at the home alone Thursday morning, when about 17 officers barged in to search the house. She says the inside is destroyed. “They came through it with a battering ram and I was asleep.” Sarah was lying face down for a half an hour. “Yeah they put a blanket over me, but after they let me sit down and get some water and stuff.”

McColl says her son who is in his mid 20’s has not been arrested, but his car was seized. She says she thinks his house was targeted because of people he associates with in Toronto.

3.8 million dollars worth of drugs including cocaine and heroin, 14 guns and close to 200-thousand dollars in cash were seized in the raids. Police say the Monstarz Gang is violent. It’s alleged they’re involved in more than 3 dozen robberies, shootings and homicides in Toronto’s Rexdale Neighbourhood since May 2011. While more than 60 people have now been arrested as part of the investigation into the Monstarz, police say they are still applying for warrants to make more arrests.
