No money for cataract surgery

Bad news for people scheduled for cataract surgery at St Joseph’s in Hamilton. The hospital is about to run out of money for the procedure.

St Joe’s director of opthalmology, Julie Holmes, says the ministry provided funding for 5,000 surgeries – but the hospital received 6,000 referrals.

The money runs out next week leaving about a thousand people without scheduled surgery.

Patients affected by these changes can call 905-573-4807. They will be contacted with new procedure dates after April.
