Monastery vineyard

When tourists come to Niagara Falls, they often visit wine country.

But leave it to the priests at Mount Carmel monastery to come up with a way to bring a little bit of wine country to the tourists. They’ve planted a vineyard in five acre plot of land next to the monastery on Stanley Avenue, just down the street from the casino and hotel towers.

Mount Carmel plans to put those grapes into their own private wine label and sell it in their retail store. But these saplings were only planted a few weeks ago. So the grapes won’t be ready for harvest for another three years.
