Mohawk College is suspending their three-year Applied Music Program due to declining enrollment and increasing costs.

The college says it is no longer financially possible to offer the same depth and quality of courses that students need.

The program has reportedly not been financially viable for several years, and the suspension means no new students will be accepted into the program.

Students currently in the program will be fully supported in their studies until they complete the three-year diploma.

The college says the award-winning faculty of the Music Program have supported students for more than four decades, and no full-time faculty positions will be lost as a result of the program suspension.

The program has produced many graduates with promising careers in the music industry, including international touring musicians and a number of JUNO-nominated recording artists.
