Modular home manufacturer in Hamilton gets $2.5M in funding

A Hamilton-based manufacturer of pre-fab homes is set to receive $2.5 million in funding from the federal government.
Liberal MP Filomena Tassi made the announcement on Monday and said the investment will help the company to manufacture nearly 2,200 modular homes per year and create upwards of 35 new jobs within the community.
BECC Modular operates a manufacturing plant out of Ancaster that specializes in making pre-fab homes for single and multi-storey building projects. Once completed, the units are shipped from the company’s factory to its customers, where they’re assembled on-site by crane.

“For over a century the products made in Hamilton have helped build many economies across the country and around the world, and this includes products being made right here at BECC Modular,” Tassi said during the announcement.
She added that modular homes are a quick alternative that can reduce up to 90 per cent of material waste throughout the construction process.
The company says its building methods are cheaper, faster and cause less headache for communities when compared to traditional building methods.
Ali Ozden, the company’s CEO, welcomed the timing of the investment.
“This is the right investment at the right time. BECC Modular has access to the right labour and materials in Hamilton to scale up dramatically our production output and respond rapidly to the ever-increasing demand for housing of all types,” he said.
