Modified shotgun, drugs seized during traffic stop in Hamilton

A 22-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after police discovered a firearm and illicit drugs inside a vehicle during a traffic stop in Hamilton.

Officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Birge St. and Victoria Ave. North early Wednesday morning.

Police say the grey Toyota Camry had previously been reported stolen and the 22-year-old driver was placed under arrest.

Officers searched the car and located illicit drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl. They also found a loaded prohibited shotgun inside the vehicle.

The driver faces multiple drug and weapons-related charges as well as flight from peace officer and four counts of fail to comply with probation.
