MMA ref recalls UFC’s early days

MMA referee Big John McCarthy is out with a new book.

He was signing copies of Let’s Get It On! at Toronto’s Eaton Centre Monday night.

The book goes back to the early days of the UFC and its “no holds barred” beginnings, to where the sport is today, with more mainstream acceptance.

“Very few people have been there from the beginning. And I’ve been there from the beginning so I know what went on, I know how it went on, and know why it happened, how it happened, and I knew who was responsible, sometimes good and bad. Some of those things are in the book, there’s something for everyone depending upon whether you’re that MMA fan from the very beginning, or the MMA fan that kind of started with the ultimate fighter show.”
