Minister Filomena Tassi and MP Anthony Housefather speak at Hamilton’s #NoMoreAntisemitism event

The Hamilton Jewish Federation hosted an event Thursday night at their newest community centre to raise awareness about anti-Semitism.
Federal Cabinet Minister Filomena Tassi and Member of Parliament Anthony Housefather – who is also the federal government’s special advisor on Jewish community relations and anti-semitism – attended the event.
“It’s heartbreaking and angering to see the abrupt rise of anti-Semitism in our city and across our country,” Tassi said. “Anti-Semitism has no place in Hamilton nor in Canada and our government is taking action against anti-Semitism, because Hamilton and Canada should be places where Jewish people feel secure and free.”
They spoke with attendees as part of the #NoMoreAntisemitism: The Talks event about the government’s relationship with Canada’s Jewish community as part of the federation’s holocaust education week.
“This year is better than last year at colleges and universities, and more and more people everyday are recognizing the outrageous amounts of anti-Semitism in our society and are determined to confront it,” said Housefather. “I know that we will overcome and things will get better.”
Guest speakers also spoke on topics to combat rising anti-Semitism and support for the new holocaust education program scheduled to be taught next year.
