Milton tower decision

Milton town staff is recommending against a Bell cell tower at New Life Church.

The proposed cell phone tower had caused quite a stir in the community with many voicing their opinions about any radiation risks.

Others were raising questions about the look of the tower.

It was to replace a temporary tower on the church property and was expected to be shaped like a cross.

The recommendation will also go to Altus Group, which does the acquisition work for Bell Communications, and New Life Church for them to review.

While city staff voted against recommending the tower, the next step is taking the proposal to council which is expected to happen on Monday, May 21st.

The final decision to go forward with the project rests with Industry Canada and there is no time frame as to when that might happen.
