After suffering two powerful earthquakes in less than three weeks, Nepal now faces the challenging task of recovering.

A car wash in Milton today helped to raise money for relief efforts in Nepal where two devastating earthquakes killed more than 8,000 people. The $5 raised from each car wash at Milton District High School will be donated to Nepal school projects, and will help with earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.

Milton student Adil Khalqi organized the event. “It’s basically all about being a global citizenship. We learned in civics that we’re all inter-connected and inter-dependent. That touched me.”

“No matter where the person is, if they need help and you can do something to help and this is a great message from our school as well. People coming here are really showing their support.”

The students say the money raised will be donated to Nepal by the Canadian government.
