Milton GO pilot

One of the most stressful parts of the day for Milton commuters is now more convenient. For the last six months, the town has been running a pilot project, offering travellers door to door service to the GO station for less than $2.
In May, the town launched its “GO Connect” pilot project, an app-based service that’s similar to Uber. During weekday peak periods, for a $1.95 a taxi will pick you up and take you to or from the GO station. And if you don’t mind walking to a communal pick up, you only have to pay a $1.45.
Milton’s coordinator of transit Tony D’Alessandro says the app is a cheap way for the town to deal with these issues as they only pay per ride, any net cost above $10 000 a month is subsidized by Metrolinx.
The app ride-co arranges the contract with the local taxi industry, drivers are paid hourly. Ridership has steadily increased to just over 90 calls a day since it’s launch. The pilot project runs until April, after that the town will look into expanding the program.
