Military vehicles will be on roadways this weekend for convoy training

Drivers may notice military vehicles across the region this weekend as the Canadian Armed Forces conduct training exercises.
Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Service Battalion, Hamilton Support Company will conduct convoy training on March 25 to 27.
Members of the public may see military vehicles on a number of highways including 401, 403, 400, 407, Hwy 50, County Rd 15, Ontario 89 E, County Rd 10, and Oak St. in Collingwood.
“This important training is being conducted in order to keep Canadian Army members’ skills including convoy drills, resupply and driver discipline current, while operating specific vehicle platform,” stated the Canadian Armed Forces in a public service announcement. “All soldiers participating will be practicing Force Health Protection Measures based on and in addition to Public Health guidelines.”
Activities will include vehicle training on planned routes between Hamilton and CFB Borden, within CFB Borden’s training area, and the surrounding areas.
They say no dismounted drills are planned unless maintenance is required.
All measures will be taken to ensure minimum inconvenience to the general public, states the announcement.
However, residents are asked to take extra caution when approaching military vehicles.
