Milan Borjan inducted into Hamilton high school Hall of Fame

Fresh off the Canadian men’s soccer team’s win Tuesday night, there was a special homecoming for a local hero. Milan Borjan made a pit stop at his alma mater Glendale high school on Wednesday where he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
Glendale high school was one of the last places Borjan was in many years ago before he followed his dream. Borjan says, “you go through life, different things you learn, and I learned a lot of stuff here so I’m very happy to be back.”

Borjan was greeted with cheers from staff and the student body of his alma mater when accepting his induction to their Hall of Fame, “it’s very exciting to be back here and to see everybody. A lot of memories coming back.”
Those memories include current staff members who were teaching when he was a student, like Phys Ed. teacher Tish Jeffrey who presented his induction. Jeffrey says, “he had a dream and I think a lot of people told him he couldn’t, and he said I’m gonna go do it, and he did it.”

Borjan began playing soccer in the former Yugoslavia where he was born. His family came to Canada more than 20 years ago. He picked up his game on the soccer fields in Hamilton and then went back to Europe. To the grand stage of pro soccer including backstopping Team Canada to the World Cup in Qatar.
Along with the Hall of Fame induction, Borjan donated both his national and club jerseys to Glendale high school.
