Business owners say Burloak Drive project threatens their future

Metrolinx held a public engagement session on the Burloak Drive Grade Separation project on Thursday evening. Local business owners are objecting to a long term closure of the road during construction. Al Sweeney has the story above.
Residents were encouraged to attend to speak directly with the Metrolinx team and have any questions about the project answered.

Plans for the joint project between the Town of Oakville, City of Burlington and Metrolinx centre on building an underpass in order to separate vehicle and rail transit.

The development is being completed to “enhance public safety” ahead of the implementation of 15-minute all-day service on the Lakeshore West GO line, which is planned to have up to eight GO trains crossing Burloak Drive every hour.
Included in the project will also be the addition of turn lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes to make travel safer for all modes of transit.
Construction has begun and is expected to wrap by mid-2026.
Those who cannot attend Thursday’s in-person meeting are encouraged to view the virtual engagement session and submit questions to be answered before the question period is closed on Sept. 29.
