Meszaros case to be reviewed

One of the cases being reviewed on the automatic gun sentence law appeal was the Brantford landowner who fired buckshot at two men who were fishing on his property.
Frank Meszaros has been sentenced to one year in jail after Ontario Superior Court Justice Harrison Arrell found him guilty of assault and using a firearm while committing an indictable offence. It happened in May of 2008. The minimum sentence for using a firearm while committing an indictable offence is one year in jail which the judge said is an appropriate sentence in this case. Meszaros shot Ryan Gaudet and William Thorne when they were fishing in his pond. The two men told us their story after it happened. The men had fished in the pond several times before but say they’d never seen a no trespassing sign.
