Meeting to discuss Councillor Lloyd Ferguson postponed

Hamilton Police have postponed a meeting to discuss the illegal temporary appointment of Councillor Lloyd Ferguson to the Police Services Board.

According the to board, the Policing Services Branch of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services says Ferguson’s appointment was unlawful. He was brought in- on an interim bases, after Councillor Terry Whitehead was suspended.

The Ontario Civilian Police Commission is seeking a legal opinion about the matter, and the board will reconvene the meeting once the commission has given its opinion to the board.
