Thieves break into Hamilton Meat Pie Company again

A popular north-end meat pie shop has been broken into – again. It’s the second break-in in just four months and owner Rick Aiton believes the same people are behind it.

“Looks like he knows where he’s going, last time we had small cash box that had a couple hundred dollars and that’s what he took last time and now he’s like, where is it, now he doesn’t know what to do,” said Aiton.

The thieves eventually figured it out and broke into the office, took five laptops and carried away a small safe filled with over $10,000 in cash.

Police believe they then fled on foot because they found the safe on the otherside of the fence all smashed up. They believe the safe was too heavy to carry on foot so they had to open it up, grab the cash and run off.

Located on the mainly industrial area along Burlington St., Aiton feels their presence could be seen as a threat to some uncomfortable with change.

Despite the early-morning drama, the door was replaced within a few hours and the pies kept coming.
