McMaster’s underground parking lot closed until further notice

The watermain break that flooded the parking garage at McMaster Children’s Hospital with 18 inches of water is now fixed but the underground parking lot remains closed until further notice.
Rick Miles, Chief Engineer at McMaster Children’s Hospital, says crews are in the process of pumping out the water and says the clean up should be finished today.
Water gushed uncontrollably into the parking garage just after 3 p.m. yesterday when one of the main lines that feeds the university and hospital burst.
Hamilton Health Sciences says McMaster Children’s Hospital and McMaster University Medical Centre are open and fully operational to provide patient care. McMaster University also remains open.

Patients and visitors are advised to park in the South Garage, accessed through short-term parking on the main entrance level. Parking is available for staff and physicians at the Ward Ave lot, and Lots “I” and “M” on the McMaster University campus.
Security personnel will be on the grounds to direct drivers to the appropriate parking lots.
Crews are working inside the massive sinkhole on Forsyth Ave. to replace the pipe that burst.
Six homes on the street are still without water and one home had flooding in their basement.
City of Hamilton officials say they will be working on the repairs well into Wednesday.
Forsyth Ave. between King St. and Arnold St. remains closed.
