Premier Dalton McGuinty’s dropping more hints as to where he wants to cut spending.
He’s targeting the salaries of executives at Ontario’s hospitals and government agencies.
“I have asked (finance) minister Duncan to take a look at what it is we might do through our budget to ensure that those who have the privilege of serving in a leadership capacity in our broader public sector, those who run our hospitals and our school boards and our colleges and our universities and our social service enterprises, that they are doing more than just providing strong direction that they are also leading by example in terms of their compensation.”
The Drummond report, expected to outline recommendations to reduce the province’s $16 billion deficit, will be released tomorrow.
McGuinty’s comments followed a tour of Xtreme Labs in Toronto. It’s a company that develops mobile applications for smart phones and digital tablets. McGuinty told employees that Ontario’s digital economy is growing and says creating the next generation of jobs for families.
