Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is the second film in the planned Maze Runner adaptation trilogy with The Maze Runner director Wes Ball returning to helm the film. Starring are Dylan O’Brien, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Ki Hong Lee, Kaya Scodelario, Rosa Salazar, Jacob Lofland, and Aidan Gillen.

In this next chapter of the epic “Maze Runner” saga, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his fellow Gladers face their greatest challenge yet: searching for clues about the mysterious and powerful organization known as WCKD. Their journey takes them to the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with unimaginable obstacles. Teaming up with resistance fighters, the Gladers take on WCKD’s vastly superior forces and uncover its shocking plans for them all.

In an interview with Slash Film, Ball talked about how the series is evolving into more than just a young adult franchise. “We get to have more adults in this movie. And they’re not all just evil adults either. They’re adults that can actually help. So that’s kind of fun. Again, it goes with that thing of just making the movie feel more than just a kids movie now. It’s becoming more and more mature, more sophisticated and all that stuff. So it’s been a lot of fun actually bringing these guys who are just great actors and just watch them do their thing. It’s been another one of those blessings where we just find great, great actors.”
