Hamilton Mayoral candidate Clark wants province to absorb Red Hill and the Linc

Brad Clark says the city must negotiate with the province to add the Red Hill Valley Parkway and the Lincoln Alexander Parkway into Ontario’s highway system.
The mayoral candidate says the deal would allow the province to address the congestion on the QEW and the 403.
He says the money saved on annual maintenance along the municipal highways would be better spent on repairing local roads and sidewalks and improving public transit.
Clark says the deal would create jobs and strengthen both Hamilton and Ontario’s economy.
He insists the deal is in the interest of both the city and the province.
“The reality is, the cut through traffic from the 400 the QEW across the Linc and the Red Hill has really increased the volume significantly. There is absolutely no reason why the province wouldn’t be open to discuss it, because it actually assists them adding an additional lane way, providing them access for the detours they talked about and they actually control the expansion and do it faster for the City of Hamilton.”
Clarke says the Highways are already running at 85% capacity.
He says the city of Hamilton does not have the money to expand the highways until 2031.
