Mayor Bratina makes address
Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina delivered his third annual state of the city address in Stoney Creek on Tuesday.
The Mayor focused on staying connected with citizens and technological progress at City Hall. Here’s some of what the Mayor said…
“I’m here today to talk about a 21st century vision for Hamilton. We are 12 full years into this century, but we continue to operate in a framework that dates back to the 1990’s. While the city and economy are progressing, it’s important we are not operating like we’re still in the 90’s, so we need to review the accomplishments of 2012 and look at how to provide a more open form of government — one that uses technology to engage it’s citizens. 2012 was a banner year statistically, but also important because in April of 2012 my colleagues on council approved a strategic plan to carry us through until 2015….allow us to measure how we have done.”
Mayor Bratina’s speech comes amidst several recent controversies at city hall.
On Monday, 29 public works employees were fired with no severance for neglect of duties, time theft and breach of trust.
The city is also still debating whether to bring a casino to Hamilton.
