Marshall Ferguson is new Mac’s new starting QB

The McMaster Marauders kicked-off their training camp Thursday with a new starting quarterback at the helm, but make no mistake, Marshall Ferguson is far from being a newcomer.
Marshall Ferguson has been waiting for this opportunity for three years, and he’s not the only one. Ferguson says, “we had a group of backups we called the bandits, now the bandits are the starters. I’ve been working with these guys for years and I live with half of them. It makes for a very smooth transition.”
Ferguson takes-over the starting quarterback role from 2013 Hec Crighton winner, Kyle Quinlan, who has now joined the Marauders’ coaching staff. Quinlan says, “He knows what he’s doing, he’s very polished, he’s very comfortable within this offense. He’s throwing the ball all over in this first practice. If he wants to come to me and ask any little detail I’m obviously happy to help him. I’m really excited to see what he can do.”
In 2011, the year Mac won the Vanier Cup, Ferguson started in three games while Quinlan was suspended. He won all three convincingly, with a 69% pass-completion rating, and threw an average of 270 yards per game.
In the five regular season games Ferguson made appearances in last year, he completed more than 70% of his passes, and threw three touchdowns.
