A couple dies in Etobicoke house fire

An elderly couple is dead following a blaze early Sunday morning in Etobicoke.
Firefighters pulled two people from the burning home but they couldn’t be resuscitated.
Flames ripped through the semi-detached home on Abigail Place at approximately 3:30am.
Upon arrival firefighters were told two people were trapped inside.
Neighbours say the victims are 80-year-old Frank Quintieri and his 76-year-old wife Mary.
They had lived in the neighbourhood for more than 20 years.
The cause of the fire is not known but investigators believe it started in the kitchen.
Toronto firefighters went door to door in the neighbourhood Sunday morning reminding residents to check the batteries in their smoke carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working properly.
Officials aren’t sure yet if the Quintieri’s had working smoke alarms.
The fire marshal’s office has been called in to investigate the cause of the blaze.
Post mortems are being done on the victims to determine cause of death.
