Markham man identified

A man who died after police opened fire at a home in Markham late Monday night has been identified.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit says 49-year old Kaveh Sabouri Tabatabaei was fatally shot after two officers opened fire.

Police say a 47 year old woman was also found inside the home with stab wounds.

Both the woman and Tabatabei died at the scene.

The SIU is looking into the actions of police, while York Regional Police are investigating the woman’s death.
