Mark Carney wins Liberal leadership, will be our next PM

Mark Carney will be Canada’s next Prime Minister.
The former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor won 85.9% of the vote of Liberal party members, easily defeating three challengers, former Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland, Burlington MP Karina Gould and Montreal businessman Frank Baylis.
Carney becomes the Prime Minister-designate for now until PM Justin Trudeau officially resigns and Governor General Mary Simon asks Carney to form a government. It’s not clear when that will happen.
However, it is widely expected that Carney will call a federal election in the coming days.
