Marineland protest

A group of animal rights activists is calling for stronger legislation to protect captive animals, including those at Marineland.

Zoocheck Canada, a former Marineland animal trainer, and the star of an award-winning documentary on dolphin abuse, held a news conference Friday morning.

Some former Marineland employees have alleged animals at the park aren’t properly cared for.

The Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums recently said it found no major issues.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says it did find some concerns, and is still investigating.
