10-17 may been known as the new 4-20 in Canada as the Trudeau government has announced that October 17th will be the day marijuana is legalized.

That date is about a month longer than initially expected. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the government delayed the initial timetable of eight to 12 weeks at the request of some of the provinces and territories, who said they needed more time for the transition.

Trudeau hopes that the delay will ensure and easy transition for retail cannabis stores and online sales.

The bill passed 52 to 29.

Canada is only the second country in the world to legalize marijuana.
